John Gruber mentioned about Apple’s plans to stream the iTunes Festival on iOS devices using an app but the app planned needs features iOS 7.1 will feature. Apple might therefore launch iOS 7.1 update ahead of the iTunes Festival.
Apple’s first iTunes Festival in the U.S. starts a week from today at SXSW in Austin. Apple is going to stream the performances to iOS devices using an app, but I’ve heard from a little birdie that the app requires iOS 7.1 (which explains why the app isn’t out yet). That means iOS 7.1 should ship any day now.
The most recent developer preview of the iOS 7.1 was released about a month ago with rumors that the OS will move out of the preview mode in March.
The major changes to the OS include a few interface tweaks as well as improvements to the Calendar app.
iOS 7.0.6 also fixes the infamous SSL error but the developer previews of the iOS 7.1 haven’t addressed the issue yet. Apple might be planning to release the fix directly to the users in iOS 7.1 update. The update is also rumored to feature several improvements to the Touch ID.
iOS 7.1 will run on the same set of devices that support the iOS 7.
