Obviously, you may want to get that device replaced in Apple Store. If your new iPhone is restarting, you can easily replace it without paying anything. You can do it if your iPhone freezes, reboots and shuts off all the time.

What if your older iPhone is restarting which is running out of warranty period? For others who are not lucky, read on to know how to fix it.

This problem is common in older models, say iPhone 5s, 5c, 5, 4s etc. which are upgraded to iOS 8 or latest. It must be incompatibility issue between hardware and software. But it is Apple, not Android! In fact, even iPhone 4s works smoothly with iOS 8. Here are the ways to fix your iPhone which keeps restarting, shutting down or freezing.

Turn On/Off Mobile Data

Sounds strange yet impossible; but many people sorted out this problem by turning their mobile data off and turning it on again. This is the easiest thing to try.

Reboot iPhone

It is easy to reboot an iPhone. All you need to hold home and power button simultaneously for a couple of seconds. Wait for the Apple logo to appear and to reboot your iPhone.

Reset Your Device

Just head to Settings => General => Reset => Reset All.

Faulty Apps

Even though Apple’s App Store is known to be very protected and secured, there are certain apps not actually best for your iPhone. In fact, one of these apps may ruin your user experience. If you have downloaded any app which led this problem, just remove it from your device, no matter how popular this app is. Just delete that app, reboot your device and sync with iTunes to see if this problem is sorted out.

Restore from Old Backup

Have you not got this fixed yet? You may try restoring data from old backup. If your iPhone keeps restarting again and again, this step is a bit tough. Connect iPhone to iTunes on PC and restore the data from old backup. Things might go normal again if you are lucky. You can go for Recovery Mode

+ Restore which is the best solution. If your iPhone restarts again and again in every two to three minutes it is tougher to do.

All you need to hold the power and home button down till screen turns black. Then connect the device to iTunes which will detect the device in recovery mode. You can restore your iPhone then. If things go well, you will be able to setup your iPhone and you can set it as new.

Replacing Battery

Sometimes battery can cause a problem. If every other option is failed to get this problem fixed, you can replace your iPhone battery.

Warnings and safety tips

To avoid your credit card information from being stolen, use passcode and never share it with your friends. When you enable the passcode security option, you’ll have to enter the passcode every time you try to autofill the forms with your credit card information.

Make sure the site where you are entering your credit card details is reliable and reputed one. If the site looks suspicious then don’t provide your credit card details.

Tip: Always check for ‘s‘ at the end of ‘https://‘. This means that your information is encrypted while the site validates your card information.

It is best to keep your passcode ON for your iPhone so no one can change the settings in your phone.

And also, change your passcode on regular basis. This will prevent data from being stolen in case of losing your iPhone.

There might always have been a time when you were waken up in the morning wishing you were waking up to your favorite or a relaxing song instead of that classic beeping tone.

Thankfully, your iPhone can do it. You can set a custom alarm tone in your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch running iOS 7 or higher. We are going to show you how to set up custom alarm tone in your iOS devices. It works on iOS 7, iOS 8 and iOS 9.

Here’s how to set up a song or an audio track as the alarm tone on your iPhone or iPad:
  • Open the Clock app on your iPhone
  • Select Alarm from the bottom menu
  • Tap on ‘+‘ to set up new alarm or tap ‘Edit’ to set custom tone on existing alarm.
  • Tap on Sound
  • Scroll to the top of the screen and tap on Pick a song (under SONGS)

You’re done. That was easy, right?

If you wish to add custom sound, but not the song, then you can download the alarm tones from the internet and put the and add it to your iPhone via iTunes. And then you can set it as your alarm tone as described above.

You can set different tones for different alarms — just set a net alarm and repeat the same steps above. You can also purchase tones directly from iTunes store as well.

Bonus tip: I personally recommend to set up a song that evokes enthusiasm in you so the music will trigger your brain to wake up and unconsciously flow with the music.

5 Best FaceTime Alternative Apps for Video Calling on iPhone and iPad

Most iPhone and iPad users tend to gravitate towards FaceTime for all their video calling needs. After all, why wouldn’t they? FaceTime is fast, easy to use, and native to iOS. However it does have one drawback: It won’t allow you to video chat with people on other platforms.

If you’re looking for an alternative app that is more universal, here are 5 great alternatives that you should try. Of course — they’re all free, for video calls at least.

DON’T MISS: iPhone 6S News and Rumors

Skype for iPhone

Over the years, Skype has grown to be synonymous with video calls — and is arguably the most popular platform out there. Its iOS app was initially criticized for being slow and unresponsive but it is much, much better now and glides along smoothly.

It is worth noting that Skype is also great instant messaging platform and will let you place VoIP phone calls (though that requires you to subscribe to the pay-as-you-go option).

Google Hangouts

Google Hangouts iPhone

Just as iOS comes with FaceTime, Android comes with Google Hangouts — and there really is very little that separates the two nowadays. The big difference is that you can get the Google Hangouts app even for your iPad or iPhone — and it will allow group video chats, which can be really quite amazing.

On top of that, Hangouts seems to work great even in low-bandwidth conditions — which is something that you may want to consider if your internet connection can be a bit spotty.

Fring iPhone

If you find that most video call apps are resource hogs that include a ton of features that you barely ever use — you’ll love Fring. It can do a lot of what FaceTime can, comes with group video calls too, and yet somehow manages to package all of that in an extremely lightweight and minimal app that feels ever so clean.

Download Fring

Viber iPhone

While Viber may have started off as a VoIP phone call service, it has evolved past that by leaps and bounds and now incorporates video calling along with instant messaging too. It is one of the more polished apps out there and has a pretty slick user interface. Generally, Viber has tended to focus more on the iPhone than iPad, but it is fully compatible with both and also includes some basic games that you can play with your friends while chatting away.

Download Viber

Tango iPhone

Compared to most of the other FaceTime alternatives, Tango is relatively new — which is why the fact that it has grown to be one of the most popular video calling apps is a testament to just how good it is. To say that Tango is feature-rich is an understatement, and aside from video calls you’ll find instant messaging and even mini-games tucked into the stylish and modern exterior of this app.

Download Tango

Which one should you use? Largely — it’s up to you. The important thing is that with any of these apps you’ll be able to video call your friends who use Android or even Windows or other platforms.

iMessage Waiting for Activation error

Before you start following the guidelines, make sure to sort out these things:

1. Check your number is listed in the iPhone app. It can be found on top of ‘Contacts.’ If you don’t see it there, go to Settings > Phone > My Number. Here you need to enter your number.

2. Next, check whether the Date & Time are correct. You need to set it to ‘Set Automatically‘ and keep the Time Zone correct.

3. Apart from these two, you need to check your network. It should be properly working and cellular enabled is better as the Wi-Fi issues can cause problems in activation.

There are some users who have also reported the messages sent for activation goes out as international SMS. For this, you need to check out whether your carrier permits international SMS and also you have enough balance to send those.

Here are the possibles fixes for ‘Waiting for Activation’ error on iPhone and iPad

1. Contact Your Carrier

The first and foremost thing to do is to check with your carrier that it supports iMessage. You also need to contact the support team of your carrier to check if there is any limited condition for you the iMessage.

2. Airplane Mode

If other methods don’t work, try this strange one. The airplane mode is simple and solves the issue. Below are the steps how to do it:

Step 1: First go to Settings > scroll down and tap Messages and then turn off iMessage. Don’t forget to disable the FaceTime too here.

Step 2: Turn on Airplane mode. With this the Wi-Fi gets turned off by its own and you need to turn it on again.

Step 3: Now go to the Messages once again and then turn-on iMessage. You need to add your Apple ID if you haven’t earlier.

Step 4: Next, go to the Settings again and then turn off the Airplane mode.

Step 5: Meanwhile, you will be getting notification informing the carrier may charge for SMS. You need to tap on OK here. If it is not so, head to the Messages and there first turn off the iMessage and turn on again.

Step 6: Rest is done. In next few minutes the iMessage should get activated. A greyed out number could be seen along with an email ID.

Next, you may notice the number should be checked. It’s finally done. Now you should no longer see the ‘Waiting for Activation’ error. If the error is still on, jump to the next possible fix.

3. Apple ID Sign-out and Sign-in

You may need sometimes to sign-out of the Apple ID and again login. Follow the below steps:

  • Go to Settings > Message, scroll down to ‘Send & Receive‘ and then tap it on.
  • Next, you need to tap on the Apple ID and press Sign Out thereafter. Switch off the iMessage and wait for a while.
  • Turn the Wi-Fi on and off, and then switch on the iMessage. Here you need to enter your Apple ID details and thereafter try reactivating the iMessage.

4. Reset, or Restore

Resetting of the location settings is required if things are not working. Next comes the resetting of the iPhone. After this, login with your Apple ID and then try setting up the iMessage as new. Even if this fails to serve the purpose, try restoring the iPhone as new or from a backup.

Let us know in the below given comment box if you were able to activate the iMessage.
